  16. SSPPEECCIIFFIICCAATTIIOONN
  17.        The  command  UUSSAAGGEE  gives  an estimate, in blocks, of the
  18.        disk space occupied by the directories given on  the  com­
  19.        mand  line.  Sub-directories are traversed recursively. If
  20.        no directory is specified, the current directory is  used.
  21.        The  total  number  of  bytes stored in all the files con­
  22.        tained in the directories are reported as well.
  23.  
  24.        The BBRRIIEEFF switch causes only the total, for  each  of  the
  25.        specified directories, to be given. The NNOOHHEEAADD switch sup­
  26.        presses the printing of the headline.  If  more  than  one
  27.        directory is given, the grand total will be printed as the
  28.        bottom line, unless suppressed by the NNOOTTOOTTAALL switch.

  30.        Hard links to other files or directories in the  specified
  31.        directories, will cause them to be counted more than once.
  32.        This may lead to an incorrectly high estimate. Soft  links
  33.        are completely ignored for now.
